APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is a
membership-based, non-for-profit organization that serves ccTLD (country-code
Top Level Domain) registries in the Asia Pacific region.
APTLD operates as the forum of information exchange
regarding technological and operational issues of domain name registries in
Asia Pacific region. As an interface to other international Internet
coordinating bodies, APTLD fosters and elevates participation of AP ccTLDs in
these global fora, as well as acts in the best interest of APTLD members in the
global Internet policy making process.
The Middle East DNS Forum brings together field
experts and affected parties to discuss the latest developments in the global
domain marketplace and ways to strengthen the DNS industry in the Middle East.
The DNS forum offers participants opportunities to network with other
stakeholders and experts; discuss various business, technical and policy
aspects of the domain industry; develop a better understanding of ICANN’s work
so that they can to play a bigger role in shaping the future of Internet; and learn
about new approaches to establish and expand commercial online presence
To bolster the capacity of the ccTLD community in the Middle
East area, APTLD in cooperation with ICANN offers 2 (two) competition-based
Fellowships to APTLD Members per the APTLD Fellowship Policy for the 5th Middle
East DNS Forum, Ankara, Turkey, 25 -26 April 2018, which for the purpose of
this Call is construed as the 4th Sub-Regional Capacity Building Exercise.
Criteria for the APTLD Fellowship to the 4th Sub-Regional Capacity Building Exercise
a) Fellowship is
awarded to APTLD members that represent ccTLD registries in the Middle East area,
including APTLD’ Ordinary and Associate members alike from the Arab States, as
well as Afghanistan and Pakistan only.
To qualify for the Fellowship, applicants must
A short bionote
(no more than 300 words);
from the employer;
A rationale for
his/her participation in the Meeting (up to 300 words), including:
involvement in a ccTLD’s operation;
achievements and successes;
a topic for
presentation (where applicable)
and how the Fellowship will help him/her develop professional skills and
promote professional growth;
A successful Fellow must submit, upon the
conclusion of the Forum, his/her written testimonial (up to 300 words) on the
feedback and areas of learning and is so doing, the fellow grants his/her
consent to such a testimonial being made publicly available by APTLD on the
Important: To qualify for the
Fellowship the applicant should demonstrate a sufficient degree of proficiency
in the English language. General Manager may at his/her discretion set up a
conference call with an applicant to test his/her level of command of the
English language. The findings of the test should be reported to the Board to
make an informed decision on the applicant’s eligibility for the Fellowship.

Call closes at 00:00 UCT on 6 April 2018.
GM reviews the applications and submits them to the
APTLD Board for review, with the successful candidates to be announced on 12 April 2018.
APTLD Fellowship covers only airfare, which is booked
and prepaid by APTLD. All airfare is economy class return and should not be in excess
of a lowest refundable fare available on an on-line booking site.
The Fellow must apply for visas if necessary well in
advance of the Forum.
Claims for visa application should be supported by
documentary proof. However, any cost incurred (e.g. transport cost) for obtaining the visa
to enter the host country is not claimable.
Hotel accommodation and meals on the spot for the successful
applicants for the length of the Forum (3 nights) will be provided thanks to
ICANN’s general contribution.
Neither APTLD, nor ICANN offer any monetary allowances,
whether per diem or otherwise.
Fellows are also responsible for obtaining and
covering the cost of any and all insurance, including but not limited to travel
insurance. Neither APTLD, nor ICANN refund insurance costs
Claim processing against such insurance (including any
costs involved) is the Fellow’s responsibility.
Neither APTLD nor ICANN refund any costs the selected
Fellow has incurred in preparing the presentation material for participation in
