30 May 2003 Notification of change of operation for the edu.au domain name space In 2002, the Ministerial Council for Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA), the Australian Vice Chancellor? Committee (AVCC), and the .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) agreed that the policy and registrar function for the edu.au domain would be transferred to authorities representing the interests of the Australian education and training community. 29 May 2003 Intec NetCore and JPRS Start Joint Measurement of Next Generation Internet Diffusion Intec NetCore, Inc. (iNetCore; Office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tetsuo Nakao), research and consulting company of the next generation Internet technology, and Japan Registry Service Co., Ltd. (JPRS;Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koki Higashida), the company responsible for the management and administration of .JP top-level domain and operation of the domain name system (DNS), have started joint IPv6 diffusion measurement using JP domain name. IPv6 is the next generation Internet Protocol standard. (more)

15 May KRNIC held Youth and family concert in commemoration of Information and Communication Day KRNIC (President, Song Kwan-ho) held Youth and Family concert in commemoration of Information and Communication Day in a prosperous condition on the last 22nd at Concert hall in Seoul Arts Center. KRNIC and mobile communication 3 companies of SKT, KTF, and LGT reached an agreement to arrange WINK (Wireless Internet Number contents) search window into Mobile phone initial display according to Ministry of Information and Communication (the 25th of April). 15 May 2003 International seminar (subject: the tendency of Courts about domain name dispute) to commemorate the first anniversary of the founding of Domain Name Dispute Resolution Committee (Chairman of the committee: Jang Mun-chul who is the professor of Korea National Police University) was held in a prosperous condition at Bar assembly hall in Seocho-dong in last 11th. 30 May 2003 “SIP/ENUM Forum Taiwan” is held on 24 July 2003 To promote SIP/ENUM development and applications, “SIP/ENUM Forum Taiwan” was established in October 2002. The forum also promotes telecommunication and Internet integration to develop products and service applications to improve Taiwan’s competitive edge for the IT industry. After six months of preparation, the Forum will hold its inaugural meeting on July 24, 2003. Combined with fixed network service providers, ISP, and communication equipment providers, the Association will also hold a platform testing program workshop and exchange technology and experience with European, American, Japanese, and Korean SIP/ENUM associations. TWNIC welcomes SIP/ENUM product R&D and manufacturers, or related telecommunication/network communication service providers to join the SIP/ENUM Promotion Association and to create business opportunities. 15 April 2003 TWNIC planned to release selective service for diversified domain name extension payment (Traditional Chinese Version) In order for long-term users to avoid the inconvenience resulting from paying for domain name extension, TWNIC planned to release the selective solution for diversified domain name extension payment on April 15th. Now TWNIC is actively performing tests for payment procedures with cooperative banks to ensure stable online services for the new solutions. The other registered organizations also planned to provide this new solution successively. In addition to the original online credit card payment, this new selective service for extension payment provides the new type of “System auto-sending remittance account number to the bank” function. 31 March 2003 VNNIC and Hi-Tek cooperate to set up online domain name registration process The Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) and the Hi-Tek Company (US) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in Hanoi. Accordingly, two sides will co-operate to set up an online “.vn” domain name registration process to create favourable conditions for international and domestic organizations and individuals to take part in Internet activities and provide Internet services in Vietnam. Two sides will also cooperate to develop propagation and advertising plans on the important role of domain names and popularizing utilities of the second level domain name under the high level “.vn” domain name.
