Call for Fellowship to 2020 Subregional Advanced DNSSEC Training

APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is a
membership-based, non-for-profit organization that serves ccTLD (country-code Top
Level Domain) registries in Asia Pacific region.

APTLD operates as the forum of information exchange
regarding technological and operational issues of domain name registries in the
Asia Pacific region. As an interface to other international Internet coordinating
bodies, APTLD fosters and elevates participation of AP ccTLDs in these global
fora, as well as acts in the best interest of APTLD members in global Internet
policy making process.

To bolster the Asia Pacific ccTLD community’s
technical capacity, APTLD in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory
Authority of the Sultanate of Oman, the .OM ccTLD registry and an APTLD Member,
3 (three) Sub-regional Fellowships to the advanced DNSSEC training to be held in Muscat, Oman, on 12-16 April 2020.

Delivered by Mr. Berry A.W. van Halderen (http://www.halderen.net/),
a renowned expert from NLnetLabs (
https://www.nlnetlabs.nl/about/) Europe’s leading applied research and educational
center in the Netherlands, the technical Workshop consists of mentored hands-on
labs to teach advanced DNS Security Extensions and DNS Security Analysis for
the operators who are responsible for the security and DNS services in their

The training will be conducted on the premises of TRA

The Fellowships cover travels (economy class round
ticket), visa costs, costs of a taxi transfer from/to the Muscat international
airport, and the hotel accommodation (including breakfast and the Internet
costs) for the whole length of the Workshop, with
the arrival date of 11 April and departure date of 17 April 2020.

Also, coffee and lunch breaks, and local shuttle services
to/from the venue will be sponsored by TRA Oman.

for the Fellowship

Selection for the Fellowship is competitive. In order
to qualify for the Fellowship, applicants must have:

minimum competence of a completed 2nd year bachelors’ degree in computer
science from a western university or its local equivalent in their country of

●  a
basic understanding of DNS (
this course is not an introduction)

●  a
basic command line shell knowledge on Linux or BSD.

●  fundamental
stills of Linux/Unix filesystems (being able to interpret a log file).

●  knowledge
of and ability to use basic editors (vi, joe or nano).

●  Be
employed in an APTLD –associated ccTLD registry
from the following list:

   –  .AF

   – .BD

   – .JO

   – .IQ

   – .LK

   – .NP

   – .QA

   – .PS

   – IDN
ccTLD for Georgia, and

   – NTC

a short strong motivation
in an
arbitrary format
and in the form of a Statement of Interest for attending the
workshop, including demonstrating a strong sense of:

   – what
he/she intends to accomplish or get out of attending the Workshop;

   – how
attending the Workshop would help him/her in work.

Participants are

●  Draft
and submit to APTLD a brief report on the Workshop highlighting their
experience and impression of the quality of sessions attended;

●  Share
the experience and knowledge gained at the Workshop within their organization
when they return home.

Please note that these Fellowships may not be awarded to any recent
(since 1 November 2018 onwards) APTLD Fellows.
