The 76th APTLD Members Meeting took place
in the city of Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia, on 5 and 6 September 2019. Hosted by MYNIC
Berhad, the .MY ccTLD registry, the Meeting got together over 100 Members’
representatives and guests representing I* organizations and Internet
businesses in Asia Pacific.

The Meeting was preceded by traditional 2 days of
trainings, the first of which, on DNSSEC, was delivered by ICANN, while the
second – on distributed ledger based registry services – by the Etherium Names
Foundation. Both classes were well attended by APTLD members.

As many as 18 APTLD Ordinary Members and 4 Associate
Members made it to APTLD76. Meanwhile, thanks to its proximity to Singapore, a
subregional knowledge and Hi-Tech hub and home to a number of leading Internet
companies, some of them committed to contribution to the Meeting with their
expertise, particularly in the area of cybersecurity.

In recognition of
APTLD’s status as a major regional organization the gathering was privileged to
have a high-level government representative of the State of Johor. Thus, the
keynotes at the Meeting opening  and at
Gala event was delivered by the Hon. YB Tuan Sr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Member of the Johor State Executive
Council, Chairman for Housing, Communication & Multimedia Committee of
Johor.

The Meeting was
held in the traditional two-track mode, with a total of 17 sessions and over 50
panelists and presenters sharing good practices and expertise in the
administrative, policy, technical, and security areas. As well, for the first
time ever, the Members participated in a groundbreaking exercise of defining
the next Meeting agenda, which was run as a team exercise.

MYNIC Berhad
earned everyone’s recognition for the most painstaking efforts to make APTLD76
a huge success. Not only has the MYNIC worked hard to develop the Meeting
logistics but also sponsored the Gala night and the traditional post-Meeting
networking event to promote the spirit of inclusivity and friendly cooperation across
the Membership and get it exposed to the fascinating local culture, nature, and
crafts.

At the closure
of the Meeting, auDA unveiled the destination for APTLD77 and 2020 AGM, that is,
Melbourne, 20-21 February 2020. Also, traditionally, the APTLD77 website –
www.aptld77.com.au was unveiled, with draft Meeting agenda to be
uploaded shortly after the final review and comments period, thanks to Members’
proactive input.

APTLD would like to
thank Acronis, the Etherium Names Foundation, ICANN, and Group-IB for
co-sponsoring APTLD76.
