Salary & Term

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, and will be inclusive of all government taxes, charges, levies etc. The initial term of the contract will be two years.

Travel and Disbursements

The General Manager will be expected to travel extensively for outreach to new and prospective APTLD members, as well as attending APTLD Members’ Meetings and ICANN Meetings. A budget will be provided for this. There is also budget approval to cover overhead costs (office, phone, internet access, etc) for an office.


It is desirable, but not essential, that the General Manager be co-located with the APTLD Secretariat. The Secretariat is based in Wellington, New Zealand until 31 December 2006. Any assistance required for relocation from outside New Zealand may be discussed with the Secretariat.

How to Apply

Applications for the General Manager’s position are due by 30 November 2005.NOTE – revised closing date is 15 January 2006. Applicants should submit a cover letter and their Curriculum Vitae in electronic format (.rtf, .tiff or .pdf) by email to sec@aptld.org.

Appointment Process

At the close of applications, a short list will be prepared of the most suitable candidates. A sub-committee of the APTLD Board will then arrange interviews with candidates, and negotiate an employment package with the preferred candidate. The APTLD Board will have the final decision on appointing the General Manager, and then an employment agreement will be prepared and signed by both parties.

Appointment Timeline (revised to take account of new closing date)

Applications now close on 15 January 2006. The Board intends to interview candidates during January, and it is hoped that an appointment can be made no later than the end of February 2006, with the candidate starting work in March 2006.
